About Teacup Persians
What They Are, What They Aren't
In spite of what you may read on the internet, genuine Teacup Persians DO exist. They are extremely rare. Smush Face, Teacup Persians are even rarer. Teacup Persians DO NOT fit into Teacups when they are full grown. The term "Teacup" is a descriptor that originated in the dog world. A "Teacup" pet is approximately 1/3 the size of a standard. There are even Teacup Pigs. Standard Persians are bred to be large, heavy-boned cats that typically weigh about 15 pounds. Therefore, a 5 pound Persian is a "Teacup" Persian. The CFA ( Cat Fanciers Association) does not recognize Miniature Persians. Our cats CFA papers describe our cats as PERSIANS. Quite a few words have been used to describe small Persian Cats. Teacup, Toy, Petite, Tiny, Purse Size, Micro, Mini, Pocket ... just to name a few. We have chosen to use the word Teacup because it is the word most commonly used to describe the miniaturization that we have achieved in our breeding program. As of this writing, Teatime is the only Smush Face Teacup Persian breeder in the United States. Because Teacup Persians are rare and expensive, there are many online scams regarding them. Everything from scammers stealing photos from the websites of standard Persian breeders and accepting money for kittens they are not even in possession of, to unethical breeders starving standard sized Persians down to Teacup weight in order to charge higher prices for them. It has been said that what Teacup Persian breeders are doing is breeding dwarfs and/or runts. I can't speak for other breeders, but our Teacups are not the result of breeding runts OR of dwarfism. Our Teacups are the result of careful downsizing. Like humans, some cats, though healthy, are just smaller than others. We literally searched the world for small, healthy Persian cats and elected our foundation cats from the best of them. We specialize in breeding genuine Teacup Persian kittens, providing you with the assurance of quality and authenticity. We are dedicated to producing true Teacup Persians ethically. We prioritize the health and well-being of our cats while ensuring that they meet the distinctive Teacup size criteria. Unlike cats with dwarfism, the life expectancy of our cats is the same as that of their standard counterpart. We encourage potential buyers to be cautious. Beware of Teacup Persian breeders who only post photos and videos of kittens on their websites and social media. A reputable Teacup Persian breeder should be able to display photos of Teacup sized adults if they are producing genuine Teacup Persians.

Our Origin Story
I first became aware of Teacup Persians about 25 years ago when my daughter opened up a copy of Cat Fancy magazine and saw an ad for Toyland Miniature Persians. I called the phone number in the ad the next day, hoping to buy a Teacup Persian Kitten for my daughter, but was toroughly disappointed to find that the breeder did not have any Mini Persians available for sale at that time. Years later, someone told me about an adorable Cream & White Smush Face Female Teacup Persian that we for sale. She was already a year old when I bought her for my daughter but she weighed exactly 3 pounds. We named her "Honey" and she lived to be 14 years old. Upon her death, we began searching for a new Teacup Persian Kitten. My daughter wanted another Smush Face Teacup Persian like Honey with a grumpy expression. Much to my dismay, I could only find long nosed "Doll Face" Teacup Persian Kittens for sale. After literally years of searching, I finally found another Smush Face Teacup! The breeder that I bought her from sold her to me with breeding rights. I wanted to start a small breeding program but I honestly did not think I would be fortunate enough to find another Teacup - specially not a MALE Teacup, since they are even more difficult to find than females are - but months later, I ran across a Black Male Smush Face Teacup Persian and again, the breeder allowed me to purchase him with breeding rights. I registered the name TEATIME with the Cat Fanciers Association and about a year later, our first litter of Miniature Persian kittens arrived. We are the rebels of the Persian world for breeding miniatures and the rebels of the Teacup world for breeding Smush Face Teacups but we feel strongly about bringing more cats like Honey into the world.

Upon approval we will text a site password to the phone number in your application. We typically notify applicants of approval within 24 hours.
3Purchase
Enter the password and visit our online store. When you're ready, purchase the kitten of your choice through our secure online store.
4Pick Up
Pick your new furry friend up here in Louisville, Kentucky. There is no charge for this meet up and your kitten will arrive in a new complimentary carrier, yours to keep.
5Ship
For an extra fee, we can arrange for white glove door to door hand delivery by a trusted family friend who is also a vet tech. The white glove delivery fee varies by distance.
